Middle age appears to have caught up with the Vets as they lost a second game in a row to youthful opposition.
With Shane Barnes still out of action following a skiing accident where he sustained a suspecting severe bruising of the wallet, Dereham lined up with 13 players, as opposed to the usual 14 which allows Jacko and Richard to have a little snooze in the second half (and maybe a pie).
Dereham took the lead following a period of pressure on the Kings Lynn goal with Pete Lavers scoring his first goal of the season.
Kings lynn looked dangerous up front but failed to convert until the Dereham defence in a Japanese moment passed the ball in front of goal, lost it and conceded to level the score.
After surprisingly muted half time break during which only 3 fights broke out Dereham came out in determined style.
Having abandoned the famous ‘hit and hope’ technique in favour of something akin to hockey Dereham started to look like a team again.
Chances were few and far between on both sides but the visitors looked the more likely to score whilst Dereham's chances appeared to be tied in with the imminent freezing over of hell.
Pelicans score a very good goal to take the points, despite several high class saves and not a little shouting from Simon in the Dereham goal.
Dereham stay 3rd after this and are quietly pushing themselves away from promotion.
