A cunningly timed game saw Norwich take all 3 points in this top of the table clash despite a late Dereham presidentially led thrust from behind late in the day .
With push back at 4pm timed to coincide with the older members of the team's afternoon nap Dereham were put firmly on the back foot when Norwich fired ahead after only 5 minutes.
Whilst Norwich enjoyed most of the possession Dereham did have a few chances with their keeper making a couple of fine saves.
Mostly it was Norwich who pressed a determined Dereham defence staffed by duffle coated Jacko Jackson, wild Bill Wiseman and Gentleman farmer Toby Harmer. (this rhymes if you say it fast- pullitzer judges are you watching?)
With Les having won the umpire over to our side with his customary charm it wasn't long before Dereham conceded a penalty flick. Simon who has having both a busy and a good game chose the right direction to dive but didn't save it and therefore failed.
2-0 at half time.
5 minutes into the second half Norwich scored again and it all looked over.
Happily Dereham managed to injure Norwich's best player and it was suddenly anyone's game again.
Stung by overhearing the Norwich skipper telling his team that 'things would get easier in the second half' Dereham surged forward with young Matt Hawker and even younger James Lavers playing well together in the midfield.
The sudden resurgance in Dereham form took the Norwich team completely by surpirse. It did in fact take everyone else by surprise too including Jerry who pulled the score back to 3-1 and then 3-2 with a flamboyant finish high into the roof of the net, possibly a little too ostentatious for this reporter but nonetheless a good goal.
With only seconds to go the ball fell to striker Ian White who's shot at point blank range forced yet another great save from the Norwich keeper saving all the points for the leaders.
Another day in poo corner.
