After so many cancellations we at last saw what the u13 boys were made of at the Pelicans Tournament.
We won every game by at least a goal and with Michael Hiscock resplendant between the sticks, shut out every single attack on our goal - the whole day!
Our first match was against a confident Pelis side but within 30 seconds of the start we were one up thanks to Oli Hazels tap in from Matt Taylors cross. With the ship steadied and some cool play we scored another to win comfortably.
Next up was Magpies whch saw us defend stoutly with Adam Burton and Sam Atkins. Such was our strength we ran out 3-0 victors.
Our next challenge were the Dragons. Its always great to see a new team enter the fray and they must be congratulated on their enthusiasm and determination. We however soon extinguished their fire and came out 2-0 to the good.
To finish of the round robin we were up against Norwich. They fought valiantly but coud not out do Jordan Young, Peter Hill or James Galley who all played with great composure. 2-0 was again the outcome.
And so to the final and a nailbiting fixture against 2nd place Norwch. Our nerve was tested to the full knowing medals were at stake and the game was heading towards 'p' flicks. Then up stood Toby Price who, with seconds to go, picked up the ball deep in our own half and went on a mazy run through the whole of the team. He entered the 'd' and cooly put the ball under the advancing keeper..
We all had a great morning and thanks go to the Parents and Pelicans hockey club for staging a great event.
